Job Description

Expression of Interest (EOI) for Local Artisans in Hairdressing and Tailoring

Introduction
GECOD Initiative Uganda and GALS Forum International, with support from the Children's Rights Violence Prevention Fund, are implementing the Adolescent Girls Power Program in Lyantonde Town Council. This program aims to empower adolescent girls by providing them with vocational skills in hairdressing and tailoring, contributing to their economic self-reliance and reducing their vulnerability to violence and exploitation.

Objective
We invite qualified local artisans in hairdressing and tailoring from Lyantonde Town Council to express interest in training adolescent girls at designated safe spaces within the community. The training will focus on equipping the girls with practical skills in these trades to improve their livelihood opportunities.

Scope of Work
Selected artisans will be required to:
• Conduct practical training sessions for adolescent girls in hairdressing or tailoring.
• Provide mentorship and guidance on professional and entrepreneurial skills.
• Collaborate with program staff to ensure the safe and supportive learning environment at the designated safe spaces.
• Deliver training over an agreed-upon period, with clear learning outcomes.

Qualifications

Eligibility Criteria
Interested artisans must meet the following criteria:
• Be residents of or have a business within Lyantonde Town Council.
• Have at least two years of experience in hairdressing or tailoring.
• Demonstrate the ability to train and mentor young people, particularly adolescent girls.
• Have a working business or facility that could be visited by program staff for verification.
• Be committed to the empowerment and protection of adolescent girls.

Experience Required


• Be residents of or have a business within Lyantonde Town Council.
• Have at least two years of experience in hairdressing or tailoring.
• Demonstrate the ability to train and mentor young people, particularly adolescent girls.

Interested artisans should submit the following documents:
1. A letter of interest detailing relevant experience in training and mentoring.
2. A copy of their business registration or operational license (if applicable).
3. Two references from clients or trainees.
4. A proposed training plan, including duration and method of delivery.
